Rules of Entry Applicable to the Junk Kouture
2022 – 2023 Competition.

The following rules are designed to ensure that Junk Kouture is conducted as fairly and as efficiently as possible and are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of Junk Kouture. Infringement of any of the rules listed below may lead to exclusion, at any time, of individuals or schools from present and/or future participation in Junk Kouture.

1. GENERAL RULES

1.1

The Junk Kouture Competition is organised by Junk Kouture Operations Ireland Ltd. by whose decision on all matters relating to the Competition will be final.

1.2

There is no fee for participating in Junk Kouture. If you make the city final the cost of  travel to attend the event will not be covered.

1.3

Entries and all associated documentation must be submitted via the Junk Kouture app which is available to download for all creators and educators on both Apple and Android mobile devices. Please access the app store on your mobile device to download this. Design teams are required to submit their design when the relevant competition submission window opens on the app.

1.4

An application will not be deemed successfully submitted on the app for judging unless all parts of the application process are completed on the app.

1.5

Creators and educators are encouraged to start their Junk Kouture journey from September 2022. From January 2023, teams across each territory (Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Italy, USA, UAE) will be required to submit an entry at the time relevant to their individual competition on the JK app. Under no circumstances will late entries be accepted. Please note that Junk Kouture Operations Ireland Ltd. also reserves the right to extend the competition window if it deems a requirement. Please visit the competition page relevant to your territory on junkkouture.com. Latest information relating to your competition will be accessible here.

1.6

Creators must be in education or an approved club and aged between 13-18 at the time of design submission.

1.7

Creators can win the title of Junk Kouture World Designer of the Year on more than one occasion. Previous winners of the title are eligible to re–enter the competition in subsequent years if they remain in second level education and are between 13 and 18 years old at the time of design submission.

1.8

Designs that have been entered in other competitions can be accepted as entries to the Junk Kouture Competition, provided that this information is stated in the application entry at time of submission and provided there is no third-party restriction on entry. If you wish to declare additional information about this, please contact [email protected]

1.9

Submission of a design will not ensure the acceptance of a design as a city finalist for the live final in their individual territory. In the initial stage of selection, a panel of screening judges will select the designs to go forward to the live finals and the judges’ decisions are final. These finalists will be announced on social media and contact will be made with the relevant educators directly via email.

1.10

For Ireland, in the initial stage of selection, a panel of screening judges will select the designs to go forward to the regional finals (5 x regional finals), followed by those entrants that are announced as City Finalists after each regional final event.

1.11

For all remaining territories, there will only be one city final in each. Regional finals do not apply.

1.12

The top ten designs selected from each city final will advance on to the Junk Kouture World Final which will take place later in 2023. Ten designs from ten individual schools per territory will be selected.

1.13

Please also note that the number of City Finalists may vary depending on location (this is subject to change as the competition progresses and at the discretion of Junk Kouture Operations Ireland Limited.

1.14

Creators  taking part in Junk Kouture 2022 – 2023 will be entered into the competition that is relevant to them and where they live. From this, the City Finalists will progress to one Junk Kouture World Final from which various award winners will be selected.

1.15

We anticipate that live events will take place across all territories in 2023.  However, we reserve the right to offer an alternative event if deemed necessary.

2. EDUCATOR REGISTRATION
